Question:
I called my ins. co. and they said I have waiting periods until 5-1-01.....
The woman I spoke to said they wouldn't even consider approving until after the waiting periods are over. But in the manual I have the waiting periods only apply to pre-existing conditions, since I have never been diagnosed as morbidly obese it should not be considered pre-existing....right? I am guessing she is just saying that to discourage me. What do you think I should do? I need any advice you can give me. Should I start calling them weekly to see about the status? Would they really not consider aproval even though its not pre-existing? Oh..my insurance is BCBS of Alabama PPO Preferred Care. Thanks for any help! — imano1momy (posted on November 2, 2000)

Were you without insurance for a time? If not, pre-existing conditions no
longer exist. If you were without insurance the pre-existing condition
wait is 12 months or as long as you were without insurance. If they asked
your weight on the application that is probably enough to bypass being
diagnosed--but maybe not.
