Question:
Insurance approval
Does anyone out there have MVP insurance? If so, how long do they take to approve WLS? This insurance company is in Latham N.Y. — Lorraine L. (posted on November 1, 2000)

I have MVP Insurance and have found someone on the web that has given me a
lot of information.
It only took MVP a day after they received all of the information they
needed to approve the surgery.
MVP does require your doctor to tell them that they are referring you to
surgery and why and...
3 other referrals before you can see the surgeon. You need to have a
nutritional consult, a psychological consult,
and an endocrinology consult. The endocrinology was the hardest to make an
appointment for. They wouldn't accept Obesity as
a diagnosis, so I had to use hypothyroidism (which I have). But, I was very
surprised at how quickly my doctors office gave me
all of the referrals. Within the same day as my visit with my primary care
physician, I had all of the referrals and all of the
appointments. If you would like to find out more information, I can give
you the other woman's e-mail so you can talk to her. She has
had the surgery through MVP. And contact me whenever you want as well! Good
Luck!!!
