Question:
How long will it be before I completely heal from WLS?

I had an open RNY on July 25. It took me almost two weeks to sleep on my
side, four weeks to regain energy and five weeks to stop feeling the muscle
soreness in the belly. At almost 7 weeks, I am nearly 100%. I'm even
bowling now! My incision is still numb and sometimes itches, however.
Good Luck.

Well as everyone will tell you, recovery is different for
each person. I am currently 6 weeks post op from Open RNY
and really didnt start to feel like my old self again until
I was about 5 weeks post. I can tell you without any doubts
that I already know that this was by far the smartest
decision I've ever made for myself in terms of my health.
Good luck to you!

I had the open rny 1/4/00. The first five days I was very delicate. I
could tell the first 2 months on liquids my stomach was weak and
intolerant. At about month 3 I felt more like myself and strong all over
(from the weight loss). At that point I ate solids so much better. I
think I benefited well from following the medical advice I was given. The
physical pain is helped tremendously with vicadin but to be healed, I'd say
it was about 3 months. By the way I went back to work 4 weeks after
surgery. I think it's wise to walk as soon as you can to get strength
back. At three months I was lifting heavy things, power walking and eating
things like hard-shell tacos and steak. There's a lot of trial and error
because you're an individual, we all are but take it easy and just do what
you're supposed to. Good luck with your journey:), Jennifer 134 lbs. gone
forever.
