Question:
Am I eating too much?
I am 4 months post-op, and today I realized I can eat more than normal. Is it possible that I have strethed my stomach out? I hope not. Today for example I had for breakfast a cup of tea and a piece of toast. Fot lunch a cheeze sandwich, and a glass of soda. For dinner the same but only half the sandwich, couldn't finish it. I am on a cheeze kick. But I was able to eat the whole sandwich for lunch. Would that be normal at 4 months? Some days I can eat more than others, is this normal? Has any one else expeirenced this? I hope I am not alone! And yes, I am drinking my water! AnnMarie Ward [email protected] — AnnMarie W. (posted on September 8, 2000)

Barb & I grabbed the same thing at once. Surely you dont' mean you are
drinking WHILE you eat or immediately after, right? You mean you are
drinking UNTIL you eat, then at least 1/2 hour later? If you do them
together habitually, you can almost double your intake, stretch your pouch
and/or the stoma and ultimately defeat your surgery. It's not that you are
"naughty"! Nothing wrong with a cheese sandwich, except now I
want one, too! 1/2 sandwich is probably plenty, maybe a slice of fruit
with it for some balance and nothing to drink.

Ann Marie, I agree with the other two posts. But also, it looks like your
food balance is off. You are eating more starch than protein. You should
be eating the majority of calories or bulk in protein, then non-starchy
carbs like fruits and veggies, then the smaller amount in starchy carbs and
fats last, I suppose, if you have any. And soda? I was told to avoid all
carbonated beverages because they can make your pouch stretch. You can let
them go flat first, but who wants to drink a flat diet drink? yuk And,
good going on getting that water all in!

DEAR ANNMARIE I THINK IT WOULD TAKE MORE THAN A SANDWICH TO STRETCH
YOUR POUCH. I CAN EAT 2 PIECES OF BREAD IF MY STOMACH IS EMPTY. I KEEP
LOSING A LITTLE AT A TIME. GOOD LUCK SHIRLEY C.
