Cathy, my open RNY with gall bladder and cyst removal took about 1hr.45min.
I was in recovery for about an hour and up and walking about 5 hrs.
post-op. They took my catheder out immediatly following surgery, so when I
needed to go to the bathroom I had to walk there! Good Luck on Thur, you'll
love your new life!

My open RNY was 2 1/2 hours and was only that long because the surgeon took
my appendix out at the same time. Otherwise he said it would have been 1
1/2 hours.

Hi Cathy, I also had open RNY. My kids told me later that my surgeon
actually apologized for taking 2 1/2 hours for the surgery because he'd
found an incisional hernia he had to repair before he could continue with
the gastric part of the procedure. I also had my gallbladder removed too.
Good luck on your upcoming surgery. And God bless. cj

My Open RNY took just under 4 hours. My surgeon does a
"Complete" surgery which means that the stomach is completely
separated into two pieces. I am just under 8 weeks post-op and very happy
with the results so far.
Good Luck and I hope this helps!
