Question:
I have never posted but I really want to know if anyone feels like I do?

Do you find yourself daydreaming about being able to wear those Levi's you've always wanted to wear? I have my sugery date and it's in 2 weeks but I can't stop thinking about all the clothes I'm going to wear. I want to keep positive and think about the surgery but I have thought that to death so I am allowing myself to daydream about what ( I hope ) it will be like. Is that wrong? Someone tell me what you think, please! Thanks for listening.    — Karlise H. (posted on August 21, 2000)

ahhh Yes, I have had those pre-op and at two months post-op and 5 months post-op.. AND..You know what the best part of all is.. My dreams are now becoming reality. I had a GREAT weekend at the lake with my family.. Lots of sun & fun in the water and good food.. I'm so very close to being under 200 pounds now that I can just feel it.. I feel and look so much younger now.. It's so nice to be 50 and with all my womanly experience and feel so darn young. (wink) I can truly say my dreams are now coming true. The next 50 years will be awesome. ;-)

Dream away girl and enjoy yourself!!!! As Vicki mentioned, the great thing about this surgery is that it's not just for day dreaming - it's reality! I am 3 months post-op and down 65 pounds and I feel great. And although I still have quite a while before I reach goal weight, I have already seen tremendous benefits of losing 65 pounds. (No more CPAP machine, no more diabetes meds) 3 weeks ago I bought a swim suit 2 sizes smaller than my last one, and it felt wonderful. Right now I am in the process of getting some "interim" clothes because the ones I have now are hanging on me like curtains. Don't worry, your surgery will come out great. Enjoy!!! :):):)

I can't say rather it's wrong. I can tell you I dream all of the time. I can't wait to run and play with my kids and husband. I can't wait to where something from victoria serect's for myself and husband. He has never called me fat names. He has always loved me for me. I just want him to see the side of me that he never has. So I dream often too. I think it's O.K. they make you smile don't they?

Dream On! I can't imagine considering the surgery without daydreaming ALWAYS! I had the WLS 6 months ago and I have loss 103 lbs. I still dream of those Levi's, mini skirts, bathing suits. As the weight comes off be prepared to dream even more. Part of the fun of deciding to have this surgery and going for it is the fact that we can daydream and finally feel "IT IS POSSIBLE" and can be more than just a dream. Good Luck to you.

I think you are on the right track. The other day one of my spear closet rod broke (old levis and sweaters) that I have not worn in years like 22 to 16 and boy it really made me think how I missed wearing jeans. But the most important thing is to get healhty I want to make a family trip to disyneland with all three grandkids and family and I know it would be so hard on me to walk and keep up. So I think we are have our dreams just keep on dreaming. lol

Karlisle: Nothing is wrong with you! You are correct, we do seem to think a lot about this surgery, our diets, etc. But we can also do some wonderful daydreaming about wearing smaller clothing! I love to get clothing cataloges that aren't "Plus Size" and daydream now. This dream has a terrific chance of becoming a reality soon! I think that's great! Don't you?! Best wishes to you!

I too day-dream and night dream about all of the beatiful and smaller clothes i would be able to wear after my surgery and i don't have a surgery date as of yet. I am waiting for insurance approval, the thought of having surgery and given the opportunity to live life to its fullest is all that i can dream or think about these days. May God Bless You Druring and After Surgery.....:-)

I think about seeing people who have always known me to be fat and how shocked they will be to see a different me. You bet I think about how I will look slimmer. Would I dress differently than I do now? You bet. They say the legs tone up extremely well...here's to shorter skirts. Ones that don't have 5 yards of fabric draped in them. Jackets that nip in at the waist. Yes, health is a very big concern, and we all know if we stay so overweight we will have more and more serious health concerns. I think wanting to look better and daydreaming about it is a wonderful way to relax and keep your mind in a positive place in this anxiety ridden time before the surgery.

I think creative visualisation and daydreaming are paramount to mental health to all of us. You try you fail, you try you fail, you try you succeed. We all have to realize our dreams because we're a good group and deserve it.

Honey...I haven't only been daydreaming, I've been buying!! Usually stuff that is on sale...but I like to have something hanging in my closet, so when I get to feeling depressed (I'm still waiting for my surgery date) I can go and look at what it's going to be like!!! Don't feel guilty, we all need things to get us through!!!

Are you kidding??? I've got a 4-year-old size 6 mini skirt in my closet (can we say phen-fen?) that I can't wait to zip up! Of course, my major motivation was to get healthy, but I also wanted to get back into that skirt! It's naturally. Good luck on your surgery! 3 1/2 months post op and -60.

Oh my gosh!!!! Girlfriend we think alike. I just saw this question and I had to respond. I am currently a sz 22/24 I haven't been able to have surg yet due to my ins and we are changing at the first of the year so I'm really not certain that it will cover(I think I have a good chance with the info I've gotten on it) Anyways sometimes when I can't sleep at night I just lay there and think about going shopping for bargains and getting into really cool clothes. I'm a rummage sale person (I really love to rummage) anyways last weekend I was rummageing and I saw a pair of LEVI's for 50cents (Yes I said 50 cents!!!!) There was not a thing wrong with them (faded to perfection) cept that they were a size 15. I got to my car and I looked em over real good and I said "I just know I'll wear these babies". Now when I can't sleep at night I get those jeans out and I dream of wearing them with a little v-neck black T-shirt. I just know it will happen- I just can't wait, Can You? Good luck.

I'm scheduled for open RNY 9/26 and I spend half my life dreaming about surgery! I definitely dream a lot about the clothes. It's going to be great to walk through the mall and be able to walk in any direction I want - and not have to just go right down to the end with the plus size stores. Where do I most look forward to shopping? Victoria's Secret. I want want some nice, feminine bra & panty sets for me & some really SEXY ones for my husband!

Oh my gosh, I daydream all the time, it's becoming almost an obsession! Just yesterday on my way home from a family Xmas Reunion,, I cried, daydreaming that next Xmas Eve, no one would recognize me. I got out of my new car (it's in the family budget plan) with my flowing pony tail in a red ribbon ( I have had shoulder length or shorter hair for years) and all by cousins (about 30 of them) wonder who it is coming up my mother's walk. Keeping me on my preop diet now!

I really cant say if its normal to daydream or not. I can say that we can daydream together though. I'm waiting for insurance approval now, and everytime I do anything I wonder how it will be once I'm skinny. I also told my daughter (who is heavy for her age) that I am going to wear her clothes when I get to her size, but only until they get too big. Dont worry, I wasn't being mean. We laughed together.
