Question:
I would like to hear from people who have had WLS postop 2 years and beyond....
Did you have to have any more surgeries or develop further consequences from the WLS and what are they? Also, given your problems or experience would you honestly say you could go through this surgery again. I would appreciate any honest response since this is such a life commitment to change. — [Anonymous] (posted on August 16, 2000)

It'll be 6 yrs in Oct. 5 years for my husband. I did have a few problems,
so'd he. His was serious, mine was annoying but repetitive. Still, our
WORST complication was having to buy entirely new wardrobes. Darn. Would
we do it again? We had an "older style" surgery, in that we had
distal RNY, but our stomachs were not transected. I had the first staple
line disruption and I DID choose to do it again. And you know? I'd do it
AGAIN if I had to. My husband had a pretty rough ride and he ALSO would do
it again. THere is no comparison to life at a normal body wt vs the
non-life we had where we were. Our co-morbidities took more time to list
than our life histories!
