Question:
For those of you post op, that had a lot of stretch marks, like I do, what happens?
I have a lot of stretch marks- mostly on my stomach, but also on the backs of my arms and on my breasts. What happens when the weight comes off? Will this mean I will probably have a major problem w/ excess skin? I am planning on working really hard after surgery exercising regurlarly and really toning, but am wondering if I will be fighting a loosing battle? Thanks. — Julie M. (posted on July 19, 2000)

I'm not far enough along in my weight loss to answer your question but I
suspect that stretch marks will make the skin less elastic (my skin is
basically nothing but stretch marks from my armpits to the tops of my
thighs). I'm assuming that I will need plastic surgery when I lose my
weight. As far as exercise goes I know that we could exercise from now
until dooms day and it won't firm the skin, only the muscles. Exercise is
never a waste of time though. It builds muscles that will help you burn
more calories.
