Question:
Anyone that has had their surgery at UCLA, and their experience?
I have appt. with Dr. Livingstone next week, and would greatly appreciate any info on the Dr. and hopital and what to expect with him? Thanks and LOVE the site! — robin H. (posted on June 30, 2000)

I didnt have my surgery with Dr. Livingston or in the US. Sorry, cant help
you there. (I live in Canada, so had my surgery at Medicine, Hat AB) But
about 7 months ago, while I was doing my research (and obsessing about post
op diet :) I had a very nice person contact me from this site. They sent
me the UCLA post op eating plan. It was the best post op diet resource I
have ever found. It helped me tremendously. So, I can tell you they have
fabulous resources, anyways. Good luck.

Hi robin,
Yes I had surgery at UCLA on 6/17/99. Dr. Livingston was my surgeon. He
is very nice person, but you must remember he is the "Head of the
Department, Dean of Students, Director of Bariatric Surgery. So if you
need a surgeon to hold your hand be advised he does not. But I wanted the
best so I chose him! I have Never had one moments problem relating to the
surgery. I did have an allergic reaction to the staples on the outside
after suregery. I had terrible hives and itched out of my skin for 2
weeks!!! LOL but I survived and HAVE NOW LOST 135 POUNDS!
The office staff at Dr. Livingstons is the very best! They are helpful and
friendly.
Good Luck. Make sure if you have surgery in the summer that you ask for a
fan!!! It is very stuffy there and you will not need anything to wear but
your slippers. The gowns suffice. The nurses are great on the floor as
they deal with WLS patients all of the time and they never make you
embarrased.
Hope this helped and sorry I responded so late. I am way behind on my
mail. Write if you want.

I had my surgery, Open RNY, at UCLA with Dr. Liu. He was fantastic. My
surgery was in July of 99 and I have lost 80 lbs. thusfar. I highly
recommend UCLA. I am going in for a tummy tuck in Sept. with the same
surgeon.
