Question:
My PCP was telling me to ask questions about debilitating arthritis post surgery.
She has a patient who had WLS, but has developed terrible arthritis since. Has anyone developed this, or heard of this? — Gretchen G. (posted on April 13, 2000)

I have been diagnosed with terrible arthritis post-op. I had some osteo
arthritis before my surgery, but the joint pain has increased terribly the
doctors are still trying to figure out "what it is?". I am
concerned and actively checking into it. I am only 29 years old, so the
possiblity of metabolic bone disorders scares me...

I have developed more severe arthritis and degenerative joint disease 6
years after surgery. I am not sure, however, it is directly related, but it
could be. I am looking for answers, too. Margaret S.

I found this question by searching for arthritis in the database. I am
wondering the same thing. Since I had surgery 20 months ago I have been
diagnosed with stage 4 (the worst) arthritis in my knee and now arthritis
in my spine. My husband is wondering if it has something to do with the
change in my diet or the extreme weight loss. Anyone have anything new to
say on the subject?
