Question:
Okay, all you RNY'ers out there, I need your expertise...
in your experience, what is considered a proximal bypass - (is it under 75 cm) and what is considered a distal - (is it over 150 cm.) To those of you who have had a very successful Distal RNY- what was the amount of your bypass? Thanks for your input. I'm still trying to collect the facts as I wait for insurance approval. My surgery will either be the BPD/DS or the RNY. I am still weighing the pros and cons of each. — Krista B. (posted on April 9, 2000)

Krista - what a confusing time for you! I went through the same thing,
since my insurance would cover either procedure. Choosing was difficult
until I researched both procedures and assessed my needs and desires. Best
of luck to you with whichever procedure you choose!
