Hi Kim,
I had my surgery on Jan 12th and sprung a leak in 2nd
week also. Your body builds up liquid around the area
it thinks is injured and then as it heals it has to
get rid of the liquid somehow. Most people have bodies
that just absorb the liquid. Yours and mine threw it out
at the incisions weakes point. If it wasn't for the information I received
from this and other lists I also would have been worried also. The leaking
eventually stops and you heal as if nothing had happened.

Hi Kim,
I also had an incision leak at about 2 weeks. My surgeon had
open the incision a little, about 1 1/2 inches long, and I
had a visiting nurse come twice a day to clean and pack it
for a week. After that I just kept it clean and dry and I
think that 1 1/2" actually looks better than the rest of
the scar! It healed beautifully. My surgery was in Oct. 99.
I wouldn't worry, you should be fine in no time.

Kim,my doctor said watch it and smell it. If it gets a nasty odor to it or
if you run a fever over 101 call your doctor, your probably infected. The
same thing happened to me,I started running a fever and it was infected.
Mine happened on day 4 post-op, the day I was supposed to go home from the
hospital. I had to stay another 7 days...YUK Anyway keep an eye on it and
good luck!
