Question:
my surgeon is only putting the limitation on me to stop all food & drink ...
(including water) at midnite the night before. I'm wondering if that was the only limitation most of you were put on? or if you had been given other directions? and ... it seems to me that one last huge pig-out the night before surgery would not be a good idea ... what did you guys do? what kind of food(s) & quantity did you have for your last supper? i don't want to do anything that will make me ill or make recovery worse!! — Kathy H. I will be under that constraint, too, as well as a liquid diet for 4 days
prior to surgery. I'm trying to get my last hurrahs with food in this
month. I've been eating out lunch with friends daily. I'm just about sick
of it! I'm going to begin eating the kinds of foods I will have to eat
post-operatively at one month prior, and hopefully lose some weight before
surgery as well. Not my doctors orders, but he okayed it if I could do it.
Good luck!

Hey there ...
I was put on Medifast 2 weeks prior to surgery with a lite meal in the
evening ... fish, asparagus, salad. This was not to lose weight, it was to
reduce the fluid in my body to make the surgery and healing process
easier.
Then 2 days prior to surgery, just clear liquids.
I am not a doctor, but I think your right .... a last pig out would not be
a good idea.
Good Luck

I had the same restriction. I thought i could not eat anything after
lunchtime so i had a great lunch at Cracker Barrel. When i found out i
could eat dinner, WOW. My parents took me out for pasta and i had the best
chicken fettucine alfredo and a big glass of pepsi!
I will always remember it and be glad that i can never really feel that
full or ashamed of myself again!

Hi Kathy, My surgeon also requested that I stop eating at 12 midnight the
night before. That was the only real restriction he put on me. The nurse in
the admitting dept. suggested that I try not to eat anything too heavy the
day before though. At around 9:00 that night I had a slice of pizza (which
was probably a little too heavy) and that was it besides some diet soda and
water right before my 12:00 deadline. Everything went fine with my surgery
but, I have found that all surgeons are very different in what they
request and their aftercare policies. Hope everything goes well with you
and please keep us posted.

Kathy, That is all I had to do. I did not have to take all the yucky stuff
the night before to clean my body out. It really was not to bad. As far
as, the last big dinner the night before, I did not eat alot. I was kinda
nervous about the surgery so I ate some soup. It was a lite dinner. That
is what I did. I did not think it was a good idea to pig out either. I
was not told other wise but that is what I felt was the right thing to do.
I was just told to stop all food and water at midnight. Good luck!!!!!!
