Question:
I've had a gastric by-pass and would like to know if any Dr. has done another by-pass
i had a by-pass surgery 7 yrs ago in may. i losst 200 lbs. i didn't have any problems with the surgery..no complications, areal easy time...but in the last 2-3 yrs i've gained my weight back, all but 50 lbs. i'm able to eat so much more and i know that my staples are still there. i just wandered if any dr.'s have done another surgery to just make the stomach part smaller? — susan M. Susan, what procedure did you have? Knowing that will help us help you.

Dear Susan,
I think many of us would like to respond to your question but a bit more
detail on the kind of bypass you had (RNY? VBG?) and the reasons you think
account for the gain would help a lot. Was it just the quantity of food
which changed or did you find yourself returning to previous patterns of
high calorie or sugary foods as well? What did your doctor say about the
regaining if you discussed it with him?
I'd be happy to offer my two bits if you can expand on thses points. Best
wishes.

Can I ask, how did you gain the weight back?
Did your eating habits go back the way they were?
Did you exercise?
Did you have babies after the surgery?
I am almost three years post op .... makes me a little nervous.
Thanks

To Susan @ ([email protected]) I responded to your question to
assist you, however, since my mail was ~~~> returned from
[email protected] (Mail Delivery Subsystem) (returned) address not
valid... I can only assume this was a plant question to detour people
from having gastric bypass surgery.. Shame on you if that was the case..
and If I'm wrong then I apologize...Just seems funny someone post a
question like that then delete the return mail contact. Makes you want to
go hummm!!! Here was my response in case I am wrong asbout this:

To better answer your question ..We need more info...Which surgery
did you have in 1993? How was weight gained back. i.e. back to
eating sugar, over calorie limit etc.. Can you tell many how many
calories you were eating a day? Exercise if any? Just need more
information..

I have done several conversions from VBG to bypass because of the failure
of the VBG, but I have not done any re-bypasses. My first question would
be
"Are you sure you had a bypass, or did you have a VBG?"
