Question:
Any post op's having trouble with insomnia?
Prior to surgery I was almost uncouncious all night...Now, 4 weeks post op, I find I go to sleep easily, but wake up around 3am unable to get back to sleep? Never had this problem...any suggestions?? — Shelly G. (posted on February 25, 2000)

Yes ... I have that problem.
I think it has to do with all that energy we have been saving up for years
now!
What time are you going to bed? I confess I go to bed early, I like to get
to my office by 6:15 am so I can have some quiet time before the troops
arrive.
My physician prescribed Ambian for me, it is a gentle sleeping pill that
does not leave you feeling hung over in the morning.
Good Luck!

Me...me! (Hand waving frantically in the air...LOL) I had sleep apnea for
about 2 years, and now it seems like I've caught up on all the sleep I
missed and I'm back to not needing much sleep. If I go to bed at 11, I lay
there for a long time trying to get to sleep. And, if something wakes me
up during the night I cannot get back to sleep and end up getting up and
roaming the house. Here are some general tips for people who experience
insomnia: don't drink anything with caffeine from noon on. If you take
naps, eliminate them. Exercise more (LOL, I know, I know....) and try and
get some fresh air in the evening. Good luck! Jaye
