Question:
Is anyone taking Actigall, due to not having their gallbladder removed during WLS?
My surgion is trying not to remove gallbladers, unless the are diseased. He said mine was healthy and left it in, then placed me on Actigall 3 times a day. I am having a really hard time with this medicene. It causes me to feel bloated, making me unable to eat at least a hour before and after taking it. Is any one else out their on this med? If so what is your experience with it? — Shelly T. (posted on February 7, 2000)

Hi Shelly, I was put on Actigall three times a day too. I tried to take it
and it made me sick too. I gave up on it after a couple of weeks. I am
two years post op and never had a problem with my gall bladder before
surgery or after surgery. If it had stones my Surgeon would have removed
it at the time of surgery. I guess I was lucky.

I TOOK ACTIGAL FOR 6 MONTHS AFTER MY SURGERY. I HAD SOME TROUBLE BUT IT
WAS MAINLY DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE PILL. I JUST GOT USED TO IT. I TOOK IT
IN THWE MORNING FIRST THING WITH MY VITAMINS. IN THE BEGINNING WHEN I HAD
PROBLEMS MY DOCTOR ADVISED ME TO OPEN UP THE CAPSULE AND EMPTY IT INTO
APPLESAUCE OR YOGURT TO EASE IT GOING DOWN. I DONT KNOW IF MY ANSWER
HELPED OR NOT.

My doctor has put me on Actigall twice a day since my surgery on January 6,
2000. He sai I will need to take it for 6 months. So far I haven't had any
problems with the medicine except the pain I get when I pay for it ($175.)

Yes, I was on Actigall.... I was on it after surgery as a preventative
measure. I did not have any problems with it at all.
Good Luck

Hi Shelley
I am taking Actigall and my bottle says TAKE WITH FOOD, therefore as soon
as I have finished my last bite, I take the Actigall with a tiny sip of
liquid. It seems to be working.
