Question:
7-days postop open RNY having pink with slightly clear yellow drainage

from top of incision,no other symptoms except still need pain meds every 4 hrs,Is this normal from what you all experienced.Thanks in advance,Lisa Carlson    — Lisa C. (posted on January 12, 2000)

This is very normal as long as the area around the incission is not red or warm and you are not running a fever over 100.5. The drainage is most likely fat breaking down and liquifying. This too shall pass! Welcome to the other side!!

Very normal to have pinkish/yellowish discharge! I had discharge from my tube until they took it out 10 days after surgery. Just keep the area clean and watch for signs of infection. Call you Dr if you are concerned. And CONGRATS! to the start of your new life! Every day Will get better!
