Question:
Staples vs. Tape. What are the disadvantages to using staples to close up incisions?

Im postop and Ive read where people described how happy they were that their doctors used surgical tape to close their incision after surgery instead of staples. I had Lap surgery and I think my doctor used staples because at first there were tiny red points around the incision but theyve since faded away to nothing. What were the advantages of using surgical tape as opposed to staples? Just curious.    — [Anonymous] (posted on December 5, 1999)

Well i wish i could say that i've had the surgical tape unfortunately i had the stapples not with wls but when having a c-section the only thing i can say would be different would be the pain when taking them out... hope this helps...... good luck Ann
