Question:
I would like to hear from people who are atleast 1 year post op .
Anyone 1 year post op with lapgastbypass -vs-opengastbypass, tyring to figure out longterm differances, other than the scars. I would like your worst set back or side effect and your best. Your stories will help me decide. Thanks so much all email accepted at [email protected] — ThePeachy1 (posted on September 11, 1999)

Iam 13 months post op. had several severe complications. had to have
additional surgery (LUNG) and lots of endoscopies. I don't need to lose
any more and can't stop. I was 351 pre-op size 32, 135 now (5'6 1/2")
size 8. I can't eat enough because scar tissue delays what stomach I have
from emptying. Constant reflux. Lots of pain. Lost lots of hair.

Sandi,
I had an open bypass done on June 1, of last year...coming upon a year.
I have gone from 270 to 140 and love most of how it's turned out. Two
things i don't like though...one is the scar because i heal badly. My doc
used glue and no stitches or staples outside at all. It should have looked
great but...it's me. The other is that I am 41 and now have loose skin
everywhere. Not a pretty picture cause my body looks like and old lady now
but skinny...which is better? a skinny old lady i would say cause i am a
healthy one. I experienced NO weird problems. Only those that i was told
about before surgery.
Good luck to you.
