I have a friend who is presently seeking this surgery through
Health Net. She is very heavy and has several co-morbidities.
Unfortunately, this HMO is pulling out of our county effective
1-1-00 so she has to get it all together before years end.
She has a consult with a surgeon next week so I am assuming
that it is progressing well for her through the insurance.

I have Blue Shield of California, and so far they have been very receptive.
There are many members of this site with that insurance and they have all
had very good experiances wtih this carrier. Good luck :o)

Marsha,
I have bc pers choice ppo, but I'm looking at bc hmo access+ for open
enrollment. I don't think my doc ( W. Clark in SD) is on either plan, so I
am trying to figure out which is the better route. BC pers ppo approved me
very quickly and painlessly, so I am happy about that! With the ppo, I'll
need almost $8000 prior to the surgery. Let me know what you find out! Good
Luck.
