There is no surgeon more skilled as Dr Courcalas or a doctor that has a
better bedside manner. I first met her in 1984 while I was working as a RN
in the SICU and she was a second year resident. At that time I remembered
her as a highly skilled surgeon. She performed mt LAP on 5/25/00, post op
she came to my bedside and told me I was as beutiful on the inside as the
outside. I have lost 93 lbs and feel fantastic!!!!! She takes call for her
patients 24 hour a day 7 days a week.

I just met with Dr. Courcoulas on 11/20/00. she was very nice and made me
feel comfortable. She was busy but took time with me to explain that the
potential benefits outweighed the risks in my case. However, she is having
surgery herself and is not scheduling surgeries until after february.

Doctor Courcoulas did my surgery October 3, 2000. I really like her. Her
office staff is very good also. The bad thing about her plan is that she
doesn't have any psychological counceling pre-op or post-op. I would have
really benifited from this. She is definately a surgen first. She is
worried about you phyically. Every time I have had a problem she is very
speedy to call me back. She also did an endoscopy on me when I had a
stricture. I was happy it was her and not another doctor. She is very,
very busy. I really didn't see her much in the hospital, but I heard that
most of the other UPMC doctors are just as busy. I went through a bad
depression after surgery and she did refer me for some counseling. If you
have any questions E-Mail me Star549008.
