Question:
Does anyone have any experience with the San Ramon Bariatric Center
I am looking to selfpay ($18,000 quoted) so that I can go specifically to this place for a RNY lap. I would like to know from anyone their experience and who was their dr. and how was the followup care, etc. Thanks — Carol H. (posted on July 26, 1999)

I had to wait 2 months for my bariatric screening exam with San Ramon. I
got the psych eval and saw the dietician. There didn't seem to be any
problems at the time and the Dr. told me I was a good candidate for
surgery. This was 11/22/99. Then came the problems. They will not return
my phone calls, I can not get anyone to send me any of their reports or to
send them to my pcp...despite repeated calls and faxing of releases. They
tell me in January that the Dr.'s report is still being transcribed!!! I'm
switching surgeons because if they treat people this shabby before
surgery...what happens afterwards. There are many other doctors in the Bay
Area who do lap RNY. I have talked with a few other people who also went
to this clinic and were also treated very rudely. It is the staff not the
doctor. I did like him, but his coordinator nurse has not helped me one
bit and has given me no guidance regarding insurance or anything. She
tells me they can't do anything without the doctors report and that isn't
ready 2 months later. I'm starting all over with the whole process because
of them. I would not recommend this clinic. Try some of the doctors in
Burlingame or San Francisco, some of them also do lap RNY. I know it is a
lot farther for those of us out in the east bay...but so far I've had much
better reception. Feel free to email me anytime.
