Question:
Can a very large ventral hernia decrease the ability to feel full after WLS?
I have a very large ventral hernia that gets even larger after eating. I am unable to feel full and feel it has decreased my weight loss post-op. Can this hernia be affecting my digestion and feelings of satiety? — Pamela M. (posted on April 12, 2005)

My surgeon told me it can affect the feeling of satiety. He said after I
had it fixed I would feel full on less food. I believe the hernia prevents
the abdominal wall muscles from pressing firmly against your stomach
therefore making it easier to eat more.
