Question:
what should I expect? plastics
I have my 1st appt with a plastic surgeon on apr.19th,and I'd like any input on what I should expect and what I should ask the doctor. Also I'd like any suggestions from anyone who has had to deal with thier insurance to get the plastic surgery approved so I can have any medical reasons documented. — cameo (posted on March 20, 2005)

Document EVERYTHING! Rashes, hernisa, back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain,
problems doing personal care and any physical limitations from hanging
skin. The surgeon will do a complete assessment and make suggestions on
what procedures would be of benefit for you. Most people who lose over 100
pounds consider lower body lift, thigh lift, breast lift and removal of
excess arm skin. Ask what order you should have procedures done to give
best results and which procedures can be done together. Good luck.

Great that you are planning this surgery, but a word of advice.....make
sure you get the surgeon to write that this is "RECONSTRUCTIVE",
rather than Plastic surgery!!!! Best wishes...I don't know you but I do
know you have come a long way!!! Midge

I had my tummy tuck for the front of me paid by my insurance so I had to
pay for the back side....I had a lower body lift. I ended up paying about
$11,000 dollars for the back of me with all my copays too. I had a 23 hour
hospital stay which my surgeon begged for and received paid by insurance.
According to my Dr. the only reason insurance will pay for a TT is if you
have back pain so make sure your Dr. emphasizes that. I also got pre
approval and even with that I had to fight my insurance to the death to pay
all my bills. Make sure you get everything in writing. Wendi
