Question:
6 months post-op I have developed undiagnosable stomach pain. Anyone else?
I have had the stomach pain for 8 months now. All the tests done, all the medicines tried, 3 GI doctors visited and all they can come up with is that I now I have a hypersensitivity syndrome. I am waiting to get into a pain clinic and am living on pain pills. Anyone heard of developing this post-op or have any suggestions? — Gretchen H. (posted on January 19, 2005)

I also experienced stomach pain for over 3 years. First thought was the
gallbladder---removed---still pain---all the tests showed fine, I was also
told I was very sensitive. However, my anemia worsened to the point of
falling below a 4 and I finally had the infusion to bring the blood levels
up and at the same time quit taking the iron pills. No more stomach pain,
No pain at all. I really thought it was gonna be there forever, and at
times the pain was so severe I would just want to pass out to get through
it.

I've discovered that taking a whole aspirin daily (instead of 1/4 or
children's aspirin) causes me to have stomach pain. Also, those hard
calcium pills cause me stomach pain. I now get the chewable calcium
citrate. Good Luck!

gretchen, I don't read anywhere in your post that you are taking aspirin
but in response to Sherry's post, as post ops, we are not supposed to take
ANY amount of aspirin related products. They will cause you all kinds of
stomach trouble. If you have to use something like that, go with tylenol.

Where/when is the pain? Has anyone offered to do an exploratory on you? I
keep seeing really ODD things that don't show up in tests. What do you
eat/not eat, drink/not drink, how do you supplement? The pain meds will
set you up for a whole OTHER set of issues, so it can take more and more. I
could tell you stories of people who were finally passed off as lying about
what they were eating, when in fact, the problem was a very real physical
one, but it only was present when there was food in the system. When they
tested, upper GI, scopes, CT, she was always empty for the test! Her doc
finally convinced her to let him take a peek and her intestine was becoming
entrapped between the two stomachs, but ONLY when food was passing thru it.

I have the same problem. I had my surgery 09/29/04 and get sharp stabbing
pains in the two incision areas. I went into ER and they did all kinds of
test and couldnt find anything wrong with my pouch. Went to see surgeon 2
days later and he said that it could be the nerves and muscles they had to
cut through. I also had the same problem 01/2004-05/2004 from my
c-section(birth...12/2003)I just was in alot of pain. Then finally it was
gone. Hopefully this pain will go away as well.
