Question:
Had my surgery out of the country in mid March '04. In April (?), began
having moderate to severe abdominal pain more days than not. Usually it's under right rib, others, in the same vicinity under left rib. Others, in left lower back, moving to left flank. I know it sounds like Gall bladder, or kidney stones, but had full abdominal ultrasound 12/7 of this month. Haven't heard back from PCP, but have talked to her nurse, who read the report, and said all was negative for stones. Nevertheless, something's going on, any ideas? Pain so bad today higher up under right rib, I want to leave work - did call PCP, and will make an appointment for later in week. Do I need to guide her about specific tests? Very tired of just accepting and living with this pain, I know all post ops aren't supposed to be experiencing this. Thanks so very much, I'm getting desperate here. — pam C. Did they check you for hernia's? If they are deep inside there might not
be any outward signs (bulging skin).

I had the same symptoms and had an ultrasound twice which showed no stones
so my doctor ordered a hida scan. It showed decreased gall bladder
function so I had it out in early October. Surprise.............it was
filled with stones and with "sludge" which is a precursor to more
stones. None of that showed on the ultrasound or the hida scan. I'd at
least get the hida scan done. It takes a little over an hour and isn't
painful at all and it will show whether the gall bladder is functioning
properly. I know I reached a point of being afraid to eat anything because
I never knew what would trigger the episodes.
