It all depends on which state you are in. In MI particularly.....they will
fight you every step of the way for the RNY. They require a minimum of 2
years, 24 full months of a physician supervised diet, with monthly minimum
weigh ins. Also you MUST have at least 3 co-morbidities, which are
uncontrolled or only marginally controlled. The next obstacle will be
finding a surgeon who will accept you. 99.9999999% of them will not.
I have more info if you are interested. email me privately.

Medicaid & medicare both require 18 consecutive months of DR.
documented diets. You can not miss a month or you have to start all over.
Plus you have to have atleast 3 co- morbids that will not get better unless
you have WLS. THEN you have to find Dr that will except the medicaid or
medicare. DR's do not always get paid for the surgery. That is why alot of
doc's wont accept either one. If they do, then alot of them require you
sign a waiver that if medicare/medicaid doesnt pay, then u have to pay. I
wish you luck. I have medicare & humana gold classic ( I'm on
disability). I was told that humana gold classic will pay with only 4
months of diets. So I should know in a couple of wks if I'm approved.

Coverage depends on the state you live in. Here in Montana Medicaid is no
longer covering WLS. Find out from your case manager or customer service
rep at Medicaid. They should be able to either mail or fax you the
information in the handbook.
