Question:
Having a Lower Body Lift (belt lipectomy) on Jan 6. Need more info!!!
I'm scheduled to have a LBL on January 6. I'm looking for more information on this website and can't seem to find a lot, but then, I'm probably not looking in the right place. I'd like to know others experiences, and how this surgery is in relation to WLS (lap). Any profiles or comments appreciated! — Denise B. (posted on November 18, 2004)

I'll be one year post-op LBL on 12/29. Love it! I've also had breast lift,
arm lift and inner thigh lift and must confess that the LBL was the most
difficult recovery of them all. I rented an electric lift chair/ recliner
and slept in that for the first two weeks in various positions as it was
tough/painful to try and get in/out of bed. Only advice I'd like to share
is don't try to wean off the pain meds early. Take them faithfully every
4-6 hours for the first couple weeks. I tried to go off too early and once
the pain got over-the-top, it was hard to control. After all, your
incision is all around your body so finding a comfortable position isn't
easy so take your meds, sleep, eat/drink lots of protein and heal. Also, I
took two Colace (stool softener) daily during those two weeks as the pain
meds can be very constipating. It's not easy but I'd do it again tomorrow
to have the results I've lived with this last year. I feel and look
terrific! I'm 53 and looked like it before the LBL but not anymore. You
won't regret it. I can hardly remember the discomfort. Best of luck!

Denise, I had a LBL on May 11th of this yr. I was 192 day of and was 172 a
weeklater. It was hard but it wasn't. I was sore for a very long time and
am still numb. It takes 6 full months to see the full results and I was
very displeased with it initially, I am a bad healer, plus, I got into a
car accident 6 wks post-op which slowed my recovery. IT IS HANDS DOWN, THE
BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF BESIDES THE RNY. It makes you feel
phenomenal. You no longer feel like a FFP (formerly fat person) and you
can rejoice in your body...the scars aren't pretty though. EMail me if you
need anything. [email protected]

I had lbl October of 2003. I have pictures of my before and after surgeries
if you want to see the difference in me. You can email at [email protected]
if you want to and I will send them to you and answer any questions you
might have. It is probably the most painful of the plastic surgeries, but
the results are remarkable and well worth it. When I had mine, I also had
extended abdominalplasty and thighplasty. I healed very well, no
complications.Pain wise, it didn't hurt as bad as my wls (open bpd/ds) but
then I wasn't 432 lbs either!
