Question:
b-12 and dizzeyness
I am 1 year post op and have lost 126 lbs. I had my lab work all done and everything came back ok but i had low b-12. The dr told me to try to take extra to bring my levels up. lately when I am standing up or getting up out of bed and even just sitting there I feel dazed not dizzy where I think I will pass out but just hazey. Does anyone know if it has to do with low b-12 levels? It just started a week or so ago. Can anyone help me out with this and give me some hints as to what this might be? Thank you very much and take care all. — amy G. (posted on November 3, 2004)

You need to go back to the doctor. With B-12 being low you hemoglobin
could also be low. This will cause anemia. You need to go to your PCP and
have him check these things out. Happens a lot with WLS patients.

Is this your PCP? If your B12 levels are low enough to show up, you already
have issues! You might point out to them that you CANNOT absorb B12 from
food sources, and if the sublinguals were working for you, they'd have
worked, so when can I start shots, please and thank you. The article that
just hit all the media about nerve damage from WLS? This is it. The
b-vites. Easy to fix if you get started ASAP. Although B12 is a B and has
to do with the nervous sytem (I mean, physical nerves, not emotional), it
kind of acts like and with iron. Everybody needs to be in harmony, humming
along together at mid-range, nobody hanging around outside the ranges.

Could be from low blood pressure. Get your blood pressure checked lying ,
sitting and standing, to see if it drops significantly when you stand up.
You may need to up your water and salt intake, to get your blood volume up.
BUT as always check with your MD. Good luck. 11/02 RNY 300 now at goal.
