Question:
Changed sublingual from 5X wkly to 3X, now having rapid heart beats.
Has this happened to anyone else? My B12 was high, so my PCP changed my sublingual to 3 times weekly instead of 5 times. I am 14 months post surgery and have hand normal reading up til now. But now I am experiencing rapid heart beats since changing my pills. Is is normal to have a high readings? I feel great taking them 5 times a week. — Mary M. (posted on October 11, 2004)

We absorb 100% of sublingual. If you look at the bottle they are usually
1200% of what we need in a day. Maybe ask the doc to go to 1 a week.

My B-12 values have always been high as well and I take the sublingual
every day. The values stayed that way until I was 2 1/2 years post-op when
they "dropped" into the mid normal range. Now at 3 years post-op
they're high again. My surgeon told me to keep taking it every day as
there are NO harmful side effects from taking too much. If you felt better
at 5X a week, I'd go back to that. If you decrease down you may wind up
too low when you hit the infamous 2 1/2 year wall.

I would be surprised if the link is the B12. Try an experiment and go back
to the old regimen and see if the pulse slows back down. When my pulse rate
is up it usually indicates to me that I need another magnesium injection
because I have a magnesium deficiency. Oh, my B12 readings also run quite
high right now, but I understand that can change down the road. Is your
PCP also running a Homocysteine test to have a better idea of what your B12
is doing before it shows on the B12 test? The homocysteine will go up as
the B12 is going down so it acts as a leading indicator of what the B12 is
doing. Sandra
