I had a lap RNY on December 15, 2004 (Monday), discharged from the hospital
on Thursday morning. Only took 1 regular tylenol once I got home. I
returned to work on Monday, December 29, 2004 - 2 weeks to the day. I
didn't really feel like going back to work until the Friday before I did.

I was in the hospital 4 days, and off work a total of 5 weeks. It was nice
to be off and take it easy.

I was off work about 10 days. It really depends on what type of job you
have. Do you sit at a desk or must you stand all day? Can you take breaks
as you need to or not at all?

I was out 4 weeks. I wish I had taken one more, not because of pain,
because of being soooo tired. It took a few days back to work for me to
feel up to speed. My job was partly sitting and partly standing, and long
hours. Good luck to you. :-)

I returned to work after 3 weeks. I am a teacher, and was ok, except for
being really tired for the first week back. Everyone is different though.
Good luck!!

I had hand assisted ryn on a Friday went home on Sunday, two days later, I
went back to work 8 days after getting home. I have had no complications
now 7 1/2 months out. I am a secretary, and had a great support group, no
lifting etc.

I had surgery on August 31. Saw the Dr. for a 1 week check up on September
7. Went back to work on September 13 full-time. I am a legal secretary,
so it isn't like I had to do manual labor. Had there been any lifting or
extended periods standing etc I do not believe Dr. Richardson would have
allowed me to go back.

Everyone is different. I was 46 when I had my lap RNY. I came back to work
full time, desk job, on the 12th day after surgery. Now, there is a woman
in the office who is 32, had the same surgeon as me, and had lap RNY on
8/25, and she isn't back yet and probably won't be back for a couple more
weeks! (Pain issues and not eating).

I went back after 1 week. Another patient in my same surgeons oractice went
back after 3 days. You have to decide this with your Dr. Alot of factors
come into play like what kind of physical activity is associated with your
job. Best wishes, Maggie B.

I had my surgery on a Friday, home on Sunday and back into my office for
1/2 day the following Friday. I then took the next week off and went in
again for 1/2 day the next Friday and then back full time. I do a desk job,
nothing physically strenuous. I was tired though. Good Luck Angela

I had surgery on a Tuesday, home on Thursday, starting working from home
several hours a day beginning on Monday, back to work half time the
following Monday, full time by Wednesday. I have a desk job, lots of
mental work, but not much physical. I was tired, but otherwise it wasn't a
problem. I do tend to heal well.
