How soon should I stop drinking coffee?

I started cutting back gradually 1 month prior to surgery so that I was
completely off by my surgery date. What I did was mix decaf in with the
regular gradually increasing the amount of decaf I used. I get horrible
headaches from caffeine withdrawal and that's why I chose to do it slowly.
Good luck with the surgery!

I did the same..........started about two months before and was completely
switched to decaf by surgery date. I had no headaches or jitters or
sluggishness by doing that. Good luck on your surgery.

The answer depends on how sensitive you are to caffeine. I am not
sensitive, and so drank regular coffee and tea up to the day before
suregery. No withdrawal symptoms for me, and no caffeine since (15 months
later). But, if you do get headaches when you stop drinking caffeine, I
strongly suggest you follow the detox procedure outlined by an earlier
poster, and start now. You don't need the caffeine withdrawal symptoms on
top of trying to heal from the surgery. Best wishes.
