Question:
HELP! I switched from the Nuva Ring to OrthoTricyclen Lo and have gained 4 pounds!
Is this normal? Has anyone else gained weight as a post op from switching birth control methods? I am 12 months post op and was using the Nuva-Ring for over a year. Due to terrible cramps, I had my OBGYN switch me back to the Pill. I am taking OrthoTriCyclen LO and have gained 4 lbs since I started taking it. I cannot seem to get those 4 pounds to budge, even with exercise, protein, tons of water, etc. Can someone tell me if this is normal and if I will ever get back on track with losing while taking birth control pills? PLEASE HELP! I am despairate to lose these last 20 pounds! — dlpnjlp (posted on June 16, 2004)

Ahhhh I was just logging on to read up on BC and our surgery. I just
started the pill last week. I've gained 4 lbs also and have the munchies!!!
I feel like a bottomless pit. I also have about 20 lbs til goal. I'm was
looking into getting an IUD, but thought in the meantime to use the pill...
Now I'm gonna re-think that plan! Glad to know other's are in the same
boat... I look forward to hearing some other responses.

I too just started on Ortho TriCyclen Lo and gained 5lbs. I noticed that
my appetite increased just a tad bit!

My OB/GYN said very few pills actually have an effect on weight loss. As
she put it "Women like to blame the pill". Keep in mind, water
weight gain that comes with being a girl. I gain a good 7 lbs the week
before my period, no matter what. But its gone by the time it starts. I'm
on a low dose pill myself and haven't had any issues (but I'm also earlier
out than you).
