Question:
why does bc formerly btc take so long to schedule surgery?

I received my insurance approval quickly but I have been unable to get in touch with my surgeon's office to get a sign off to schedule the surgery. Can anyone tell me what to do? Am I just impatient or is this the norm?    — Beverly M. (posted on May 21, 2004)

I know EXACTLY what you are going through with Barix (BTC). I know from dealing with them 2 years ago that they are grossly understaffed to deal with all of the approvals and scheduling that they need to do. My advice is to keep track of who has your file and what stage it is in at ALL times. I don't think you are being impatient at all. This is their norm (kinda sad, huh?). I have had wonderful results from Barix (BTC) and think that you should just bug the heck out of them. Unfortunately the squeaky wheel gets the grease when it comes to Barix. Check out my profile if you want, I documented all my frustrations with them, but I also attribute my success to their fabulous program. Good luck ~ it'll be worth the wait! ....Kelly 18 month post op 315/123

What bariatic center are you working with? I got my approval today and I also have my first appt. with my surgeon on Monday morning.

I am sorry. I meant the barix clinic (formerly bariatric treatment center) in ohio.

I was lucky as I am in Arizona and the clinic is new here so scheduling happened rather quickly for me. I do know that they need their copy of the insurance approval in hand before they will schdule. I knew I was approved before they did and had to wait until they received the physical approval. It also helped that my insurance was changing at the end of 2003 and we wanted to get my surgery done in December so that was an extra motivation. I did keep in contact with them though because frankly I never believe that someone else has my best interests at the top of their list. I am the only one who would have that priority. I was very polite each time, but did always make notes of who I talked to and what I learned. Other than that, Barix is a wonderful place to have your surgery. I have nothing but good memories of my expezrience there. My surgeon was very skilled and the nursing staff excellent. Good luck and your day will soon be here. Sandra
