Question:
Need input on pain I've been living with for almost a month (Long ... )
I'm 2 years post op, and for the last month (almost) I've been experiencing pain in and around my rib cage and sides. It started on my right side/rib cage first, and it felt like a muscle pull. But, a few days later, I noticed it was now also on the left side right under my left breast, and over the rib cage. It still felt like a pulled muscle, but it's not going away. I was still dealing with lingering effects from a bad cold, but was not coughing or sneezing at the time. It's not my gallbladder (don't have one). My Ob/Gyn did a breast exam, because I have alot of scar tissue from a breast reduction 7 years ago and has ordered a breast ultrasound & mammogram. She thought it might be an infection of some sort and gave me an antibiotic. It's not a shooting pain anymore, but it's still there, especially if I put any pressure on it. I have NO idea what this is. Does anyone think this could be stomach related? Thanks in advance! — KelBurt (posted on May 15, 2004)

Hi! Please have your pcp do an x-ray specifically for a hair line fracture
or cracked rib. I had a broken rib that went undiagnosed (even with x-rays
--- but they were not specifically ordered for the ribs --- so they did not
find it until weeks later when the pain was persistant, shooting and they
finally ordered the xray specifically for the ribs). Also is it possible
that you could have pluracy? I remember getting this many years ago when I
had a cough so bad.
