Question:
Has anyone been taking any protein pills instead of the shakes.
I am 5 1/2 months post op and have been having alot of problems with taking the protein shakes. I am losing my hair and not losing as quickly as I probably should. I would prefer to take my protein by way of pill, but not real sure if that is sufficient...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — Jeanine K. (posted on May 3, 2004)

It's my understanding that you'd have to take an enormous number of pills
to get even the minimum amount of protein necessary. Also, it's very
possible that we could not even absorb that type of protein very well.
What type of protein shakes have you tried? Perhaps we can recommend some
tastier ones.

By 5 months you should be able to get all your protein from food. Now some
have hairloss, but it ALWAYS grows back! I would try eating more protein,
drink plenty of water and up your exercise by 2 hours a day. Now look at
this site!

http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html
You can plug in your
height weight and age, along with a large variety of activities, to see how
many calories are burned per hour. With 3400 calories equaling a pound, my
info means I use almost that much in 8 hours of grocery store stocking
which I do just for the exercise. Loosing weight is still a calories in vs
calories used.

My surgeon says that he wants us to do the protein supplements, shakes or
whatever, for the rest of our live. Not just for a short period of time.
Any other input from what your drs. say?
