It sounds like you are too thin. I'm 5'2 and 125 pounds and have a small
frame and I look petite but not too thin. At 5'5 and 114, I would think
you are a good 10 pounds underweight. Are you still trying to lose weight?
If you can't stop, maybe you need to eat 6 small meals a day to help try
and put some weight back on you.

Your BMI is 19 which has you in the normal range. If you feel like you are
too thin, try adding more calories to your diet by adding to your carb
intake. Also I'd talk to my surgeon too just to make sure everything is ok.

I am a grazer and it works for me. But if I try to eat three meals a day
and that is it I start losing too. I have had to add some calories and eat
a little more. Sometimes it feels like I eat all day. I do sometimes go
over my goal weight but I just cut back and it drops right off. I am
5'4" and at 145-150. That is a comfortable weight for me.

I am in the same boat too and Diane, you sound just like me! The more I
eat, the more I lose. I am now in the 150's and got here losing 3 pounds in
the same week and I am 11 months post-op. I am still steadily losing weight
although I thought it would be tapering down by now. Just when I
think it's tapering down, I drop anywhere from 3-5
pounds in a week...and it's usually because I was eating more the week
before. Very weird.

WOW! 5'5 and 114 lbs sounds like a skeleton to me. I would think at a
minimu you'd want to be in the 125-135 range. The best way to increase
calories with the least amount of intake will be to increase your fat
intake, as eat gram of fat is 9 calories while a carb or protein gram is
only 4 calories. I sure would be discussing it with my surgeon long before
I ever got to your point. You must wear about a 2 or 4 at that size. Just
pretty scary to me who wants to maintain nothing less than a size 10 and
more likely a size 12. Good Luck!

I am 5'4 and small boned also. I weigh 133 now.. but I can "see"
myself with 15 lbs less (although everyone says I am very thin already). If
I had plastics, I would probably be 115 or 120).

There was a time when I was getting too thin. I read the pouch rules for
dummies and it says if excess weight loss becomes a problems to reverse
those rules. My surgeon suggested adding a few calories and drinking a
little with my meals. This allowed me to eat more calories. I have stopped
losing and am maintaining nicely. Good luck!

I too worry about this. I am 5'6" and now weigh 123 lbs. I still
will lose more when I have my thigh lift done and a revision to my
abdominoplasty. People tell me I am too thin also. It seems like I am
eating all of the time. I eat anything and everything, but only so much
will go down per day. I will be interested in seeing the other posts that
you get regarding this.

Chrystal, you are not a year out from your surgery yet, and you
reached/passed goal very quickly. That happens sometimes when people have
about 100 to lose. I was the same way. I'm 5'8" and I went from 260 to
124 in less than a year. I looked thin but kinda scary. But after a while,
I started looking better. My butt came back, my face filled out a bit,
muscles covered the boniness, etc. I regained about 15 pounds and decided I
liked it better when I was thinner. So I took it off again. I'm back to 124
(still 5'8"!) but people no longer tell me I'm too thin or sick
looking. It just takes time for your system to catch up with itself. I'm
sure you are quite thin now, but if you can stop losing before too much
longer you will be fine. To stop my losing, my surgeon had me calculate my
calories and add 100 calories a day for a week. When I still lost, I added
another 100 the next week. That kept up until I got to a number where I
stopped losing. It was 1900 a day for me. I kept track of my calories and
at the end of the day if I was under that number I would drink another
protein shake or have a yogurt or something. Good luck to you; I'm guessing
you'll be fine. hugs, Ann ... RNY 9/10/99 .... 260/124

You've answered your own question..if you look sick, then yes, you have
lost too much weight. Are you happy at 114 and sickly looking or do you
want to gain some and look healthier? Your not alone, many post-ops have
gone below their goal but eventually the weight loss slows and stops and as
they eat more they gain. There is the 10 percent bounce back which usually
occurs around year 2-2 1/2, where post-ops gain back 10 percent of whatthey
originally lost-mny post-ops experience that. To stop the loss and start
gaining do as the others suggested, reverse the pouch rules-drink with
meals and graze on higher caloried items like carbs. Doesn't have to be
junk food, just more calories.

I too have lost too much. I am 2 years post op and find it hard to gain to
weight back! I'm becoming somewhat concerned. I take vitamins regularly
and eat right (I think). My problem is that I have to remind myself to eat
if not "what do ya know" I loose more. I rather be on this side
now then is to where I had problems losing it. Seek medical advise if it
becomes bothersom. Best of luck to you. Adele S

i, too, got too thin. My surgeon became concerned and told me to up my
calories, up my carbs, add more high calorie snacks and drink while eating.
i did this and stopped my loss and regained twn pounds like he wanted me
too but I am trying to lose it again. i don't like the extra ten pounds on
my 5'1" small frame. I have already re-lost five.

This is just a comment.Being told I must look like a skeleton would hurt
juat as much as being told I looked like a beached whale..Lets be a little
kinder to our AMOS brothers and sisters..
Hugs to all.

Unless you are ill, ie, your blood work is out of kilter, don't worry about
being "too thin." A lot of us go below goal, but time changes
all that usually. I'm 4 year out now, and was what I and others would term
"underweight." You do not die from thin, you die from
malnutrition. As long as your labs are fine, let nature take it's course,
your body will eventually find what's comfortable and settle you there. I
am so grateful I didn't listen to others when they told me I was too
thin...because I may have started eating things I shouldn't and developing
bad habits from that. I try to stay healthy, and sure enough, at about 3
1/2 years out...I put on 30 lbs. Quite a shock, and I'm not a happy camper
about it, but had I started eating, like others suggested, it more than
likely would have been a lot more. Hang in there! Regards~ Jacque
