Question:
Anyone experiencing hypoglycemia post-op?
I am two-years out and have begun having problems with sudden drops in blood sugar. I hear that it is fairly common for WLS post-ops. Would like to hear what others have done to combat this. — ZaZa F. (posted on April 23, 2004)

Every now and again, this happens to me and it is overwhelming when it
happens because I then overeat and become sick. There was a previous post
about the whole biology behind it. However, it doesn't happen that often
to me. Can't figure out what triggers it. Good Luck

You might pop onto the Grad list and listen in, as this rolls around pretty
frequently. Or bring it up. It's part of our original disease, but
manifesting in a new way. Most of us eat a small non-carb meal or drink a
non-sugar protein drink every few hours. Although I carry glucose tabs for
an outright emergency, at home I balance with PB on bread. Some carry the
PB crackers. It corrects faster and more gently than the glucose tabs. I go
for months with none, then have one daily for a week. I have yet to figure
out the pattern of it. But sudden unaccustomed exercise will almost always
trigger an attack. Regular movement and exercise did not. Here's the

I have a regular problem with this. For me the best solution was to make
sure I spread my protein out as evenly as possible throughout the day and
stay away from bad carbs and no sugars. Works like a champ.
