Question:
Will Curves really firm you up?

Hi everyone, I am 62 years young, and had surgery rny Oct 15, 2001 is it too late for me to try and firm up these old arms, and legs? Is Curves my answer, or should I consider a gym, thanks to all, Love Susie    — lostitall (posted on March 25, 2004)

It is never too late. I would recommend, however, that you get a couple of sessions with a reputable personal trainer (not just someone who lifts weights) who can build a program for you. A good PT can make all the difference in the world. Good luck. <G>

I started going to Curves a few months before my surgery, and as soon as the doctor gave me the okay, I went for exactly a year after my surgery and it really helped. After that I began to go to the "big gym" for extra toning and firming. I think Curves is great because the atmosphere is so positive and you get in a half hour at whatever pace you want.

Hi Susie, I joined Curves a little over a year post-op and I've seen alot of results. I haven't lost much weight but I've lost a bunch of inches. The best part is that I feel soooo much better about myself now that I'm exercising regularly. I really have fun when I go to Curves. The people are very supportive and so friendly, it quickly has become a fun, social outing for me. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, yet not intimidating atmosphere to become more fit. Good luck. Vicki Mize

I went to Curves prior to my surgery. Its a great place especially when you are just starting out. I now go to a college wellness center and I love it. I have a personal trainer and the cost is relatively low compared to Curves. I would recommend going to the same if available, especially working with a personal trainer. Curves' workout isnt for everyone. I'm going to be 50 and I need more plus I definetly want someone well trained in fitness instruction. Your physical well being is not just a fad.

I go to a gym where there is a women who is 67 years young she did not have the surgery, but she has lost 70 pounds since she starting working out with a personal trainer, and she looks marvelous! She was determined and dedicated to her personal health and I swear after working out she looks 10-20 years younger - so I guess it is never too late.
