I am on glucaphage for (adult type II diabetes) doctor prefers to call it glucose intolerance.I have been on prozac for 3 years for depression, My lipids Chol/Trigly are extremley high with could be syptoms of metabolic syndrome.I am taking synthroid 100 mg for help in bringing down my lipids and my HDL Chol is low LDL is high as well..My t4 thyroid is ok. I have lower back problems from hanging abdomin (c-section)but no record of that.I have 9 years worth of documented supervised weight loss attempts off and on showing I lost weight and gained back more in return.I get migraines and I haven't had a period since august 03.. in November my doctor prescribed provera.. i took it for 10 days and I day 13 I had a 4 day period.. but that was caused by medicines he gave me to JUMP start my period..aghhhh.. I am so nervous I go into my consult on tuesday March 23.. need some reasurrance..anyone??? — LesaPurdy (posted on March 20, 2004)

My husband had a DS without gastric resection on 2/10/04 solely to cure his
type 2 diabetes. Not only did the surgery work, he feels and looks better
than he has in years. His vision went back to 20/20 without glasses and
his neuropathy is improving. In my opinion it's worth it just to get rid
of the diabetes! As far as we are concerned, it's a miracle.

As long as all of your co-morbidities are medically documented, you should
be OK. I say that, because I had a friend who said self-diagnosed several
of her co-morbids and was denied by her insurance because she couldn't
medically document them. What are your insurance requirements for WLS?
