Question:
if I have 100 pounds to lose .................
if I have 100 pounds to lose - does any one have a time frame on how long or how soon it will take me to lose it... — Sonya Galindo (posted on March 15, 2004)

I started out at 324 and it took me 7 months to lose 108lbs. Since your
starting weight is lower it will probably take you a little longer but it
all depends on your body. Good Luck. 324/150/150.

it took me 5 months to loss my 1st 100 lbs. my start wt was 400 lbs. You
really can't estimate it to well. cause everyone loses differently. and
also if you don't follow the rules it may delay your wt loss. Water,
proteins, exercise is the key to wt loss, plus watch the carbs, it will
slow your wt loss. good luck to you.

Generally the more you have to lose, the faster the first good portion of
it comes off.
I am 5'2 and started at 235, 8months today I have lost 82lbs. I know I
should have lost at least 90 by now but have not excersiced as much as I
should have. I am hoping to get back on track next month.
My nutritionist expects me to lose 95lbs but I am going for 100, my surgeon
said I could lose it within 10 months. Dont think that will happen now, but
will be very happy for it to happen by 1 year. :) Good luck!

Plan on 18 months. Be happy with shorter, or longer even.

I weighed 238 when I had surgery but I had lost 40 just prior to surgery.
Doctor told me I could expect to lose about 2 to 3 pounds a week since I'd
already lost so much. I've lost 59 since surgery on 09/25/03. That
calculates to a little over 10 pounds per month. Wish it was faster but
I'm 5.5 months out and 34 pounds from goal so I feel pretty good about it
when I look at it that way. You really can't judge yourself by
others............we are all somewhat unique and lose at different rates
and have different losing patterns. Other posters are correct though. You
lose better if you get in your protein and water, leave off the carbs, and
do some form of exercise regularly. I don't particularly like going to the
gym and know I could not keep that up forever so I'm choosing to just move,
move, move as much as possible. You'll definitely have to find what works
best for you. Good luck on finding your own personal weight loss and
weight maintenance style.

I started at 5'7" and 255 pounds at my consult in 12/02. I was 248 on
my surgery date, 2/18/03. At my surgery 1st anniversary date this year, I
was at 135. Who ever would have thought it. Everyone is different, and I
hear that I am unusual for a relative lightweight. As one of the others
have said, I'd plan on 18 months. Good luck!!

well it will depend on you and a lot of other things like how much water
you will be able to intake also how much exercise you will do. I had mine
on Oct 6 and I am down 80 pounds now, but I do try to get to the gym at
least 3 times a week and I know that if I did more exercise and drank even
more water I would lose a lot more. But again some people lose more faster
others still eat the same way and take longer I wish I could say it will be
this amount of time but really a lot has to do with you.

Don't worry about a time frame! Everyone is different. You didn't put 100
lbs on overnight and it is not going to come off overnight. Use this time
to get your eating and exercise habits in check and the 100lbs will come
off before you know it. When you ask a question like the above we fall
into the old diet habit and mind set. As I said everyone is diffent. I
lost all of my weight in 11 months (180 lbs). Is that normal? NO! Some
will lose slower or faster than others.

Well, weight loss is hard to generalize, each person is different, it took
me 5 months to lose 102lbs and I will reach 6 months post-op in a week.
Some people I've have lost a lot less in that time frame and some maybe
more. But each individual is different and my surgeon said you can compare
your weight loss to others. I hope this helps. Oh, one thing I did that
helped me not focus on how much I lost how soon. I don't have a scale at
home, I never did, so the only time I would weigh was when I went for my
follow-up visits and each time I was amazed at the progress, I could feel
it coming off by my clothes getting bigger and bigger but looking at myself
in mirror it took a while before I saw a significant difference. But try
not to focus on it and you'll be amazed at the lbs. come off.

One way I put a positive on being a "slower" loser - and yes,
starting at a lower weight it just comes off slower - is that it somewhat
decreases your likelihood of gallstones.

If you go to the Gallery (see link at top of page) and then go to Weight
loss planner, on the left side, it will calculate how much you need to lose
and how long it will take you to get there. BUT as the others have said,
keep in mind that we are all different and lose at different rates, some
faster than others. On a good note, patience, persistence and following
the pouch rules will get you to your goal, no matter how long it takes.
