Question:
how soon after surgery can I start to work out -
how soon after surgery can I begin to work out - I have a crazy fear of busting my stomach open inside if I work out to soon or to hard - is that possible? and I'm not being funny..... :) — Sonya Galindo (posted on March 15, 2004)

Of course your surgeon knows best so ask him! But Lap walking immediately
heavy exercise within about a month. My surgeon release most for noirmal
activities within a month. Opens need longer to heal because of the hernia
risk. Have never heard of smone splittiung their stomach from exercise.

I began exercise the day I got home. 15 minutes on the treadmill. Then at
3 weeks I began to add some light upper body work and increased treadmill
time to 30 minutes.

I started execising about 8 days post-op and regreted as I pulled a muscle
in my stomach WHOA did that hurt! I began a full exercise program with no
problems after 7 weeks. I start my day with 8 oz of water (sipping) and
after my workout I have a protein shake (4-6 oz). I would like to have the
protein before exercise, but it is just too heavy. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR
JOURNEY
