Question:
How long after surgery, do u see your surgeon now?
Hi I am now a year postop from having rny and just wondering how many times do u guys go and see your surgeon now since having surgery, my surgeon sees us every three mths for the first year then after tht once a year for the rest of our lievs unless of course something were to go wrong. Does that sound about right? thanks so much for your responses! — Melodee S. (posted on March 5, 2004)

I just went for my one year check up last month. My surgeon wants to see me
again in six months. Normally, it would be once a year after the first year
but i've had some problems with ulcers etc this first year so he wants to
watch me.
Best of luck,
Kathy

At Mayo you see the surgeon at 4 weeks and then after that you are released
to the endocronologist at 3 months for blood work and then at 6 months for
a complete workup and then again at a year..The surgeon totally releases
you to endo.

I was seen at 2 weeks, 3 months, and every 3 months til a year. Now I
think it's every 6 months, at least til the 2 year mark. I am a year out.
I go to our support groups monthly so I do see my surgeons anyway, then.

I saw my surgeon 5 days post op, and now go monthly for the first year,
with labs being drawn every other month.

saw him at 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and one year...now yearly. My PCP
monitors me in between. HOWEVER, my surgeon is 4 hours away by car and he
would never get me in there more often unless I had problems :-)

often if there are problems!! Best wishes!! Amy

I saw my surgeron at 2 weeks/1 month/3/6/9/12 months. Had 4 labs
(bloodwork) and bonescan at 6 months. Scheduled regular appointments every
6 months for life, thereafter. Yours sounds right too. I do know of some
that only see their surgeons 1-2 times after procedure. Glad that's not my

I'm one year post op and I will see my surgeon again in 1 and 1/2 years
then once a year for the rest of my life. I'm lucky though in that I had
monthly support groups and my surgeon attends those meetings. But don't
hesitate to call your surgeon if you have a problem or question. Good Luck
Jodie
