Question:
I have always had a big abdomen even at 120lbs. can that be fixed during WLS?
I don't want to have to wait to have 2 separate surgeries so I would like to know if something surgically can be done to fix that during an RNY. — April P. (posted on March 1, 2004)

I know occaisionally people will post that they had such hanging lower
abdomens (like, down to their knees) that the surgeon would address that at
the time of the initial surgery. I don't know if that's what you are
referring to, or not.

I understand completely. My belly got into the room half hour ahead of the
rest of me. Had I done anything with it at 262 lbs, I would've had to do it
again at 112. I just carried most of my weight there. As it was, I stuck it
out til I weighed 129 and then removed it. Then they were able to take the
remaining fat, as well as the loose skin. For us apples, it's prolly not a
good idea to just do a panni at the time of surgery. It leaves a big wad
above the waist.
