Question:
I need a PS in the Phoenix area - any suggestions?
I recently discovered I have two hernias (one very large), that need to be repaired. My general surgeon is willing to coordinate with a plastic surgeon to do a tummy tuck at the same time. However, the PS she sent me to is reluctant to do the abdominoplasty at the same time as she thinks it is too dangerous due to my severe asthma. She was also adamant that my insurance would not cover a tummy tuck, despite never having tried. She claims that in her 7 years of practice, no insurance has ever paid for a tummy tuck, only a panniculectomy. SIGH! I really need to see a surgeon who has worked with a lot of WLS patients and whose office is at least willing to TRY to get insurance approval. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. I am in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, but will go to Tempe/Mesa area too. THANKS!!! Maria — Maria H. (posted on February 11, 2004)

You might want to post this question on the Plastic Surgery Message Board.
I live in Mesa, AZ, and I am only 6 months post op, but have been
researching Plastic Surgeons. I will have my pcp refer me to Steven Wiener
in Scottsdale when I am ready. He is listed on Obesityhelp.com and does
re-constructive surgery, that includes all the procedures that I need.
Some only cover the breast reductions, others only do tummy tucks. Email
me if you would like the phone number or have questions.

Hi - I don't know how he is with the insurance stuff, but I highly
recommend my plastic surgeon for his surgical skills. Dr. Sean Lille in
Scottsdale is wonderful and his office staff is great and I bet they would
be willing to at least try and get approval from your insurane company. His
number is 480-661-6197. Good luck!

My sister-in-law works for Dr. Creech in Phoenix. His office is located on
South Mountain and his prices are very reasonable. His website is:
