Question:
I feel like I'm not full.

I am 10 weeks post surgery. I never feel full unless I over eat and that has me concerned since I don't feel like I'm losing the pounds like I should. What am I doing wrong?    — Laura S. (posted on February 6, 2004)

I'm four months post-op and I too never felt full unless I ate too much but my doctor told me the goal wasn't to feel full in the early months. He said it would probably take a few months before I felt a full sensation so I should measure everything for awhile. So I put about a half cup total on my plate and eat that and then stop unless I feel full before I finish it. Sometimes I do if it is something very dense. If it is something less dense like stew or soup or chili, I know I can eat somewhere around 3/4 cup, I still go by measurements rather than a feeling though.

First of all you have no profile for any of us to go to to gather more info in an effort to help you. What are you doing wrong? Perhaps nothing, but how would we know that? You don't mention how many pounds you are losing so although it may not be fast enough for you, it may be a perfectly normal weight loss. And you may not feel full because you are not eating enough. I try to eat until satisfied as opposed to overly full. But without more info, sweetie, honestly we can't help

Maybe you should waterload before you eat.

You should concentrate on eating several small meals a day rather than 3 large ones, to avoid being sick.

Laura I'm 10 weeks Post-Op also - I have days when I eat and do not feel full, but I remember how much I should be able to eat and stop there. Remember WLS has a mental part as well. I eat by true serving sizes if the value says 1/2 cup is a serving this is what I eat. I was fooled as well as I could eat more - then realized that I did not want to eat until I was sick - I only need to give my body its nutritional quota - someone mentioned 6 meals - that is also a good measurement. Good Luck
