Question:
Because I have in the last year I have twice had severe
that lasted for about a hour. Is it possible that to feel pain when you have a stapleline disruption? My husband was going to take me to the ER but it finally went away. I had an open RNY 2 years ago, the gall bladder came out at the same time. The pain is around where the lower stomach. — taryncarrol (posted on January 26, 2004)

It may be something as simple as gas or constipation, but occasionally
after surgery (even years after surgery) the bowel may become twisted from
scar tissue and adhesions and cause a bowel obstruction. I would diffently
get in touch with my Dr. and let him know about your pain. Bowel
obstructions can be very serious if not treated promptly.

I've experienced severe pain post-op in that same area for a variety of
reasons. The first was that my intestine had looped and I needed surgery
to straighten it out and fix some adhesions. The second time they never
found the reason, but the pain passed in about 5 hours. They think I had
trouble digesting some nuts I had eaten. Several times lately I've
experienced pain that lasts a couple of hours and then goes away.
Excrutiating, send me to the ER pain. Nothing was found, but they think
it's esophageal spasms. I think you should check w/ your doc, especially
if you've seen any changes in bowel habits.
