Question:
Where has my libido gone?
Hello all I will be three years post op in April LAP RNY. I have pretty much completely lost my sex drive. It used to be through the roof and now nothing. Any suggestions, vitamins, herbs that can be taken? Thank you! — Kristina P. (posted on January 5, 2004)

Sorry, I don't really have an answer...but, if you do find yours, please
let me know so I can look there too!

Kristina, I am 10 mos post op and in the same situation. None of my doc's
have answers. My endocrinologist is running hormone tests to see if my
hormones are "off".

I've seen some posts on the message board about "Avlimil" which
is an herbal supplement. It's getting a lot of buzz these days. I haven't
tried it myself. You didn't mention your age, so I'm wondering if you
might be at the age where it starts to fade a bit. I've noticed that for
myself the last couple of years (I'm 46, just had surgery 9/11/03). I've
also seen some ads on the internet for a cream/gel which is supposed to
enhance blood flow to the "desired areas." Also, I do remember
from my younger and crazier days (the 70's) that marijuana could really
boost libido (and appetite, unfortunately). Of course, that's not legal,
and I'm probably a little too "conservative" to risk it - just a
thought, though! Let us know if you find anything that works.

I don't know where yours went, but I think It's off somewhere with mine-
having a fine time without us!
I don't have an answer- just an "I'm there with you!"

Hi. It's nothing to do with age I'm only 29. I think my surgeon remove it
during my surgery. I saw some pills at walmart that were something like
avlimil. THey were $20.00 so I was thinking about trying them. My doctor
also has no answers on this one...he said just wait......AMY

Ahh I mean this only to try to help. Are you the same party girl who asked
about milkthistle awhile ago? If you have a drinking problem, and its not
my place to suggest or accuse you of that, but that can cause decrease
libido. I had a old friend who reported the same thing. she finally got off
the booze bcause of fear her boyfriend would leave. Granted its not you but
thought it should be mentioned.
