Sheri, I know it's hard, but you have to be patient. I too am the same height and weighed 258 two years ago. I was a very very slow loser. I took 6 weeks off from work and at that point I had lost something like 20lbs. Make sure you measure yourself, cuz when you're not seeing any results on the scale, it's coming off in inches. Even by my one year mark, I had not lost the 100lbs I had hoped to. I am now 2 years out as of December 13th, and weigh 138. 120lb. loss. It was slow to come off, but sure was hard seeing all my fellow support group gals flying right by me. Hang in there, it will happen.

Just be patient. Believe me although you may not see it on your scale, you will soon notice the inches disappearing as your body feeds on it's fat stores. Although I like to see the scale fall...I'm more excited by the inches leaving me.

You may have gained water weight in the hospital. Many do and I'm pretty sure I did. I started much heavier, and had only lost three pounds my first week, which was a huge disappointment at the time! It didn't seem possible, considering I was only on liquids, compared to my usual intake. I think you'll see the loss increase in the coming weeks but as a "lightweight", you'll probably lose slower than a lot of the profiles you read and will have to be patient. Still, you've lost 10 pounds in less than a month, at that pace you'd be to goal in a year!

Don't worry about your initial weight loss. Following surgery you actually retain a lot of water. In another 2 weeks you will see significant improvement. If not, contact your surgeon. Are you eating pureed foods still? Take it slow, eat 5-6 times per day (small meals) and your body will adapt very soon. Give it time. You will be fine.

Hi Sheri ... hang in there ... you're on the right track! One little reminder, however, be sure to eat!! I know it sounds strange, but if you don't get enough calories in, your body will hold on to everything (i.e. starvation mode), causing you to not lose ... so eat your 5-6 times/day (even if you don't feel like it)! Take care ... best wishes ... I'm sure you'll do fine! LAP RNY 06/18/03 -88

You're a lightweight. I noticed a change about 7 months out. Don't worry - this surgery is foolproof!
