Question:
It's me again
Well I read this post of mine in June of 03 and now it is Dec 03. I have gained 16 lbs since my Roux-N- Y Nov 01. I am thoroughly convinced that the only way to get teeny-tiny like some of the pics here I have seen is to diet now. Basically eat your protein and very little carbs...and no grazing....I had start eating carbs about 4 months ago and now I am wearing them....I will start to "watch it" and exercise and will come back and post in 4-5 months....I want to be 130 (my goal) not 198. I didn't go through all this to be a size 18....talk at you later! Anyone else 2 years out with the same concern...welcome to the "Over the Top" group.... Sue Herbst — Susan H. I feel exactly the same way. I had lost to 174, and have gained to 176
over the past two weeks, but wanted to get to 150. I feel like now I will
truly have to make great efforts to get there, and I'm not even sure that I
will! Thanks for your advice - good advice and very timely for the
holidays. Good luck.

I had my surgery in 11/01 too. I find that you MUST watch the amount of
food you take in but I also find exercise to be VERY important. I try to
do it 3 times a week and I find that I can pretty much eat what I want.
However, if I feel my pants getting a little tight, I start watching
calories and exercising a little more and within a few days the pants get
looser.

Hi Sue, I just read your profile and could not find anything on
exercise..are you doing any? I'm almost 2 years post-op and got to within
a few pounds of my goal and literally have to work to stay here. Now its
no where near as hard as it was pre-op, but daily weighing ensures that if
I gain more than a few pounds, I up the exercise, reduce the carb snacks,
and up the water and protein until the scale starts to move down again.
Although some do not like to weigh daily, if I don't its way too easy to
gain a good 7 or more before the clothes would give me away. There is no
secret to this surgery..you gotta take in less calories and burn what you
take in (the exercise part) to continue to lose. I will caution you though
about thinking that anything less than 130 is failing. My surgeon wanted
me to be 130 too (thats what the insurance charts called for). Well, keep
in mind that the less you weigh, the less calories you can take in to
sustain that weight, and I knew that as much as I like to eat that no way,
no how, I could maintain 130 and a size 6-8. I decided to go for a size as
a goal(I figured that would be between 140-145) and when I got to size 10
and 147-150, I stopped losing and started concentrating on maintaining.
